Amy on Country
Size: 40cm x 50cm
Artist: Amy French
Medium: Acrylic
Story: Amy French paints the story of her Ngurra (Home country), Karlamilyi. This is where she was born and grew up.
Amy’s ngurra brings to life the Country that she and her family walked in the pujiman (traditional, desert-dwelling) era. All around the Karlamily (Rudall River) region and through to Tiwa (Canning Stock Route Well 26).
Amy captures in her paintings, important and sacred features such as the hills, the waters. Rock holes, waterholes, soaks and springs were all extremely important sites for Martu people during the pujiman period, and are generally depicted with circular forms.
